Emmaline Russell is an illustrative artist, originally from southwest Ohio. Emmaline’s artistic expression is fueled by experiences from the outdoors. She is fascinated by the way time shapes a landscape. Creating harmonious shapes and details throughout time that demand to be translated to paper. This process inspires her approach to creating work, a slow and repetitive tick of a pen.
Emmaline is exploring the way landscapes impress themselves onto the viewer. The viewer then holds onto this memory, and will carry it with them the rest of their life. How does the viewer’s memory of their beloved landscape change? How does the landscape transform the viewer? The places we love manifest themselves in our identity. How does that translate in our being. Emmaline’s passion to express these themes comes through in her rhythmic style.
